Angela Scott: Patterned Lanscape, 2009 Oil on Canvas 70" x 48"
My painting "Patterned Landscape" is being featured during August and September at Venue Ballard. Venue has original artwork from over 25 Seattle artists and designers and is located at 5408 22nd Ave NW in Seattle. http://www.venueballard.com/
Currently I am exploring pattern in my paintings and drawings. My use of pattern is visually inspired by nature and conceptually inspired by interconnection between people and nature. I am facinated by the African concept of "ubuntu", or a person is a person through other people. It is through our interactions with others that we are able to realize the fullness of what it means to be human. Despite all the material things that can divide us such as class, ethnicity, geography, sexuality, and religion, we still have the potential to connect to one another as human beings and to the greater natural world as a nurturer of our existence and a source of pleasure and wonder.
